Shelter Studios is a commercial photo and video production rental house in Minneapolis, supporting both local and out-of-town productions.
We provide professional lighting, camera systems, grip equipment, and fully equipped grip vans—ready for studio or location work.
Our inventory includes trusted gear from Profoto, Aputure, Canon, ARRI, and more, maintained for professional use on working sets.
Beyond equipment, we help productions run smoothly by connecting clients with experienced local crew including digitechs, assistants, stylists, producers, and location support.

Space
At over 14,500 sf, Shelter is one of Mpls’ largest rental studios. We have the flexibility of 6 open concept studios which can be rented individually or in multiples for expansive productions. Some of our amenities include drive in capabilities, a 16×24′ daylight window, truck high docks, a scene shop, 2 full prep kitchens, a coffee bar, plus a grip package with every studio rental.
Gear
Our extensive rental inventory covers all of your equipment needs. We have the largest selection of Aputure, Profoto, Canon, Inovativ, and Apple gear, all under one roof. Our equipment is reliable, well taken care of, clean, and maintained on a weekly basis. Need a grip van? We’ve got you covered there as well.
Delivery
Need gear on location? We offer the convenience of fast, delivery and pick up for all of our rentals within the 494, 694 loop. Need delivery farther than that or after operating hours? No worries, we can still help you out. Message us for specific rates.
